Begin in Marrakech, where you’ll traverse the majestic High Atlas Mountains, visit the historic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, and explore the enchanting Dades Valley. Journey to the mesmerizing Sahara Desert, discovering the breathtaking Todra Gorges and experiencing an unforgettable camel trek to an overnight desert camp. Continue your exploration in Fes with a guided tour of its ancient medinas and architectural marvels before venturing to the picturesque blue city of Chefchaouen. Conclude your journey in Tangier.
The first day of a 7-day desert tour from Marrakech, you will be picked up at your accommodation in Marrakech or from the airport in the morning to drive to the desert through the fascinating High Atlas Mountains, and over the Tizi-N-Tichka pass in the Atlas Mountains. There will be stops along the way to view the breathtaking landscapes from a panoramic vantage point.
Our next stop is the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, which is a must-see on this tour. UNESCO has designated this fortified village as part of the World Heritage List as a World Heritage Site. In addition, the Kasbah has been featured in several films, including Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, etc.
After that, we continue to Ouarzazate and visit the film studios where many famous films were shot. We’ll have some time to eat lunch, then we’ll go see the Rose Valley, driving through a big group of palm trees in Skoura. Lastly, we’ll go to Boumalne Dades to sleep for the night.
After breakfast, we’ll drive through the Dades Valley. We’ll stop at a place where we can see the valley from above and enjoy the amazing view of the Dades gorges. Then, we’ll continue to Todra Gorges. The Todra River has carved a big canyon in the mountains, making tall red cliffs on both sides. You can walk around and enjoy the beautiful scenery there. After that, we’ll drive through areas with lots of palm trees called Touroug and Tinjdad. You’ll have some time to eat lunch on the way.
Finally, we arrive at Erg Chebbi’s Merzouga Dunes, where you will check into your hotel and enjoy a magical dinner with traditional Berber music. The hotel provides unique and comfortable accommodations, allowing you to fully embrace the serene beauty of the desert night.
Following a delicious breakfast, we drive to Khamlia village, where you will be treated to the enthralling rhythms of real Gnawa music. Then we’ll go off the usual route, exploring the dunes on an unpaved road and stopping for tea with nomads in traditional Berber tents. This immersive experience gives you a glimpse into a different way of life, and you’ll even get to eat Berber pizza for lunch.
In the late afternoon, after relaxing at the hotel, you’ll prepare for an incredible camel ride into the heart of the dunes to view the breathtaking sunset. When you arrive at the camp, you’ll be greeted with mint tea before settling into your comfy tents with ensuite bathrooms and showers as the Sahara presents its stunning evening hues. Dinner is ready, and as you eat, a musical performance by the group around the fire adds to the allure of the starry Sahara night.
Today, make sure to wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise, as the dunes come alive with a mesmerizing display of colors and shadows, so you will not miss an awe-inspiring spectacle. After breakfast, you will ride your camel back to Merzouga, meet your driver and head to Fes.
Along the way, we will stop at Rissani’s bustling traditional market. If you visit on a market day—Sundays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays—you’ll be greeted by a vibrant display of colors, fragrances, and sounds as you stroll through its bustling streets. Afterward, we drive to Arfoud, where you’ll have the opportunity to visit a workshop showcasing fossilized marble. The journey continues through the picturesque palm groves of Ziz Valley and the middle Atlas Mountains. We will have to stop by Azrou’s cedar grove, which is home to some playful monkeys. Then drive to Ifrane, often referred to as Morocco’s Switzerland, where you can take magnificent images and observe the town’s splendor. Drop you off t your accommodation in Fes.
After breakfast at your Riad, you meet our local guide and immerse yourself in the rich history and culture as you navigate the winding, narrow streets of Fes medinas.
The explorative journey starts in Fes el Bali (789 ACE) at the well-known Bab Boujeloud gate and goes to Talâa Kebira’s major boulevard. Admire the Spanish and Tunisian-influenced architecture as you go past stores and souks (markets) looking for presents and souvenirs. Witness the traditional procedures in action at the 11th-century Chouara Tannery. Before proceeding to the “new city” of Fes el Jdid (13th century), see the elaborate zellij tile work of the 14th-century Al Attarine Madrasa.
Enjoy panoramic views of the city from the Mellah, the old Jewish area, and the cemetery. Explore Ville Nouvelle if time allows to see the tremendous shift in architecture.
We will conclude the day by allowing you free time to explore Fes at your leisure before heading to your accommodation.
After our driver picks you up from your location, we will head to Meknes, an imperial city with a rich history dating back to the Alawite dynasty. Explore the grand Babb el-Mansur gateway, the Sahrij Souani Basin, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum, adorned with sumptuous decorations. After a satisfying lunch, continue your adventure to Volubilis, Morocco’s renowned Roman site dating from AD 24-285.
Next on the itinerary is Moulay Idriss, a city built dramatically on the rocky spurs of the Khyber and Tazga hills. With buildings cascading down the slopes, this city holds great significance for pilgrims, hosting an annual religious festival in August. To conclude this exciting day, embark on a scenic drive through the Rif Mountains to reach Chefchaouen, the blue city, where you’ll spend the night.
Today, you will be free to explore the city’s enchantment. Explore the town’s maze-like streets, which are decked with mesmerizing tones of blue. Navigate the Medina’s winding alleys, where each corner reveals a new magnificent scene. Immerse yourself in the vivid ambiance of the busy souks (markets), which showcase the workmanship of local artisans and provide one-of-a-kind treasures Alternatively, unwind at a charming cafe or restaurant while indulging in authentic Moroccan cuisine that will tantalize your taste buds with delectable treats.
Afterward, we head to Tangier through the Rif mountains. We drop you off at your accommodation in Tangier or drop you off at the airport, depending on your flight departure.
